Best WooCommerce AI review summary plugins (2026)

This guide compares the six WooCommerce plugins that place AI-generated review summaries directly on your product pages for shoppers. All six read your store’s existing reviews and render a summary in the review section; none of them collect reviews on your behalf. We looked at how each handles the AI, what review data leaves your server, whether negative themes always surface, and what the pricing model is.

This guide is published by Sumzy, one of the products compared. We rank Sumzy first, apply the criteria below, and source every fact from each vendor’s own published materials.

What is the best WooCommerce AI review summary plugin?

Sumzy, an AI review summary plugin for WooCommerce, is the strongest all-round choice for stores that want to give shoppers a clear, balanced picture without touching API keys, managing model invoices, or writing prompts. It runs the AI itself, keeps the summary in your database so your product pages stay fast even if the backend is down, and shows every recurring theme -- positive and noted -- on every plan.

If collecting and soliciting new reviews is your main need, WiserReview and YayReviews are all-in-one alternatives that combine collection with AI summaries; they may suit stores that want a single plugin for both jobs.

How we compared these plugins

We scored on five things: whether the plugin runs the AI for you or requires your own API key and account; what review data leaves your server; whether negative themes always appear or can be suppressed; whether there is a non-removable AI disclosure to shoppers; and total monthly cost at the entry tier. Every cell comes from the vendor’s own product page, pricing page, or wp.org listing -- nothing is inferred. Where a fact was not documented by the vendor, the cell says “Not documented.”

Do you need an OpenAI API key to use a WooCommerce AI review summary plugin?

It depends on the plugin. Nexu requires you to supply your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, xAI, Mistral, or DeepSeek -- you pay your own AI provider directly. Elsner runs entirely on your server using a local lexicon approach with no external service at all. Sumzy, WiserReview, YayReviews, and StoreAgent each manage the AI themselves; you do not need an external key or account.

The practical difference: bring-your-own-key tools give you provider choice and put the cost on your account; managed tools handle the AI service for you, which means simpler setup and no model invoices to watch.

Do AI review summaries send customer data to third parties?

For Sumzy: the plugin sends review text, star rating, and a coarse recency band, plus a product identifier and your language and tone settings to Sumzy’s backend for processing; no customer names, emails, or order data are included. The raw text is discarded after the summary is generated and not retained for training.

For other plugins: only Shurvana explicitly documents what triggers data transmission and what fields travel. Nexu states that reviews are sent to your chosen AI provider, but does not enumerate the exact fields. WiserReview, YayReviews, StoreAgent, and Templines do not specify in their public materials what review fields leave your server for AI processing.

If data handling is a key concern, check each vendor’s privacy policy and wp.org data-handling section directly before installing.

02The plugins, one by one

Nexu

Nexu is a dedicated summarization plugin -- it does not collect reviews. Its standout feature is provider flexibility: you can point it at OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Mistral, or DeepSeek using your own API credentials. It extracts pros and cons separately and documents a “sales-driven” tone option alongside its default balanced tone, though whether the sales-driven tone suppresses negative themes is not stated in its public materials. Pricing is a one-time annual license ($29/yr for one site), not a subscription.

Choose Nexu if you already hold API credits with a specific AI provider, want to keep AI spend on your own account, and prefer a perpetual-style license over a subscription.

WiserReview

WiserReview is an all-in-one review plugin: it collects reviews via email, SMS, and WhatsApp requests; displays photo and video reviews; and adds an AI summary on its Pro + AI plan ($31/mo). The AI summary is not available on the lower-cost tiers. The $9/mo Starter and $19/mo Pro plans include collection and display without the AI summary.

Choose WiserReview if collecting new reviews is as important as summarizing existing ones, and you want both features in a single plugin.

YayReviews

YayReviews is another all-in-one: it handles review collection, photo and video uploads, coupon rewards, and an AI summary on its Pro tier ($99/yr for a single site, approximately $8.25/mo equivalent). Version 1.1.0 (May 2026) added a setting to hide the AI summary when sentiment is negative -- a Pro feature that suppresses the summary entirely on products with predominantly negative reviews. Sumzy has no comparable hide setting on any plan; the Sumzy prompt is constrained to surface recurring negative themes alongside positive ones.

Choose YayReviews if you want review collection, coupon incentives, and an AI summary in one plugin, and the hide-on-negative option fits your store’s approach.

StoreAgent

StoreAgent is a broad AI toolkit for WooCommerce -- chatbot, product description generation, Q&A, and review summaries are all features within a single plugin. Review summaries appear on live product pages for shoppers and include a documented notice that the text is AI-generated from real customer reviews. Pricing is usage-volume-based rather than per-site: the Growth plan starts at $19/mo for 500 AI chat replies and 5,000 AI tasks (which includes review summaries); higher volumes step to $49/mo and $249/mo.

Choose StoreAgent if you want a chatbot and AI content generation alongside review summaries, and a usage-volume pricing model suits your traffic pattern.

Templines

Templines is a one-time CodeCanyon purchase ($25 Regular License / $85 Extended License) that generates AI summaries and adds JSON-LD schema markup to product pages -- the only plugin in this set that leads with rich-snippet / SEO structured data as a headline feature. It also supports importing reviews from external sources such as Amazon. The CodeCanyon listing does not state whether the buyer needs to supply their own OpenAI key, so treat that as undocumented. The last update on record is September 2025, and compatibility is listed for WooCommerce up to 9.x (the current WooCommerce line is 10.x as of capture).

Choose Templines if you want a one-time-purchase plugin with built-in JSON-LD schema output and you do not need ongoing updates or subscription support.

Elsner

Elsner’s WooCommerce AI Review Intelligence runs entirely on your server using a local lexicon approach -- no external API calls, no monthly subscription ($15 one-time license). It covers a range of review-management tasks: sentiment tagging, spam detection, duplicate protection, and AI merchant replies. Its own product copy describes the summary it generates as a “positive review summary” -- that is the phrase from its published materials, not an independent characterization.

Choose Elsner if your hosting can run local lexicon processing, you prefer a one-time cost, and you do not want any review data leaving your server.

Different scope: Shurvana

Shurvana is not a shopper-facing widget. It is a merchant analytics dashboard -- it runs a review analysis inside wp-admin and shows sentiment and insight summaries to you as the store manager. No summary appears on product pages for shoppers. If you are looking for a merchant-only review analytics tool (free, wp.org), Shurvana fits that job. It is not a substitute for any of the shopper-facing plugins compared above.

A note on Alpus

The vendor’s website (alpustheme.com) showed only a domain parking page when checked June 2026. Pricing and feature details are not documented.

03The verdict

Which one should you choose?

If you want a dedicated summarization plugin with no API key to manage, predictable monthly pricing, and a guarantee that negative themes always appear alongside positive ones, Sumzy is the direct fit. It keeps summaries in your own database so product pages load fast regardless of external uptime.
If you need to collect reviews as well as summarize them, WiserReview (Pro + AI at $31/mo) or YayReviews (Pro at $99/yr) cover both in one plugin -- worth considering if your store is still building its review base. Just note that YayReviews Pro includes an option to hide the summary when sentiment is negative; Sumzy does not offer that setting.
If you prefer a one-time license over a subscription, Nexu ($29/yr, BYO API key) or Templines ($25 one-time, CodeCanyon) may be more appealing.
If you want everything -- chatbot, content generation, and review summaries -- in one AI toolkit, StoreAgent starts at $19/mo.
If data stays on your server as an absolute requirement, Elsner’s local lexicon approach is the only option that documents zero external data transmission.

04Questions

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my summaries if I cancel or my subscription lapses?
On a full subscription lapse -- whether your trial ends or a paid subscription expires -- the Sumzy widget stops showing on product pages. The summaries themselves are preserved in your database and are never deleted; they come back the moment you resubscribe. During the paid-through period after a cancel and the Freemius grace window, the widget keeps displaying normally.
What if my products have very few reviews?
Sumzy generates a summary once a product has enough reviews to say something meaningful. Products with no reviews show nothing; the summary appears when there is genuine content to work with. There is no minimum review count you need to reach before installing -- the plugin simply starts summarizing when each product is ready.
Can I edit a summary after it generates?
Yes, on the Professional and Business plans. The editing workflow lets you adjust the wording before the summary goes live on the product page. The AI disclosure label ([AI]) remains on every tier regardless of edits; it is not removable.
How often do summaries refresh?
Sumzy checks for changes on a regular schedule and updates summaries as new reviews come in. The exact interval is not published, but the cycle is frequent enough that a product page reflects its review pool without manual intervention.
Can Sumzy work alongside a review collection plugin like WiserReview or YayReviews?
Yes. Sumzy reads the reviews already in your WooCommerce database. If WiserReview, YayReviews, or any other WooCommerce-native review plugin is collecting and storing reviews there, Sumzy reads and summarizes them. The two plugins serve different jobs and do not conflict.
